HISTORY OF OOB
Old Orchard Beach was originally part of Saco. It was officially settled in 1657, by Thomas Rogers. Patrick Googins was the first permanent settler in 1722. In 1883 Old Orchard Beach became its own community. In 1898 the pier was built at the beach. The grand opening was July 2, 1898. Old Orchard Beach is one of the longest beaches on the Atlantic coast. People have been coming to Old Orchard Beach for more than a century to have fun at the beach!
